2. Walk alongside refugees

Refugees frequently have to work through the trauma they experienced in the situations that led to them becoming refugees. Once in Switzerland, they face learning a new language and culture, as well as navigating everyday situations such as finding a place to live and work, grocery shopping, and administrative formalities. These obstacles can quickly add up and lead to stress and desperation. Whenever refugees need help in any of these areas, they are welcome to get in touch with us. According to the Swiss Evangelical Alliance (SEA), the church has a significant role and responsibility regarding the support, advice, and integration of refugees. Together with the SEA we maintain a Switzerland-wide network of professionals and volunteers serving in the area of integration. Our network also includes already integrated migrants who serve as experts, providing competent assistance and sharing their valuable experiences from everyday life. They offer refugees the best possible social and spiritual support. Practical help empowers refugees to integrate into Swiss society successfully.

3. We assess threat situations asylum seekers face and support their re-integration back in their countries of origin.

The reports refugees submit are reviewed by our professional staff in collaboration with international partner organizations in the countries of origin. Thanks to the global network of the Evangelical Alliance, we are able to record and assess the level of threat in a given country and to what degree a given person’s life is threatened base on religious or ethnic grounds. This in turn allows us to support those seeking help in the best possible way. We also interact with regional, cantonal, and national asylum and migration authorities.

In the event of a negative asylum decision, we help to ease the return to a given country of origin. Thanks to the national and international network of the SEA, as well as local networks and partners, asylum seekers whose applications were denied in Switzerland, receive the best possible support during their re-integration in their countries of origin.
